Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
Welcome to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Providing quality service, Austin style for travelers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is our job. To fulfill this, we work daily to ensure a safe, clean, friendly, affordable, and efficient airport.
An outdoor Family Viewing Area is located near the east runway at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Nearly one acre has been set aside to provide a vantage point for watching planes land and take off on the airport's 9,000 foot east runway. This viewing spot offers a paved parking area and picnic tables. The Family Viewing Area is at the end of Golf Course Road, which is on the south side of Hwy 71 East and just west of the airport's entrance. Recommended viewing times include mornings from 6-11 a.m., afternoons from 1:30-3 p.m., and evenings beginning around 7:30 p.m.
The airport's parallel runways are named for two distinguished politicians. On April 15, 1999, the Austin City Council dedicated the West Runway (17R/35L) to the late President Lyndon Baines Johnson, and the East Runway (17L/35R) to former Congressman J. J. "Jake" Pickle.
